We are back with Jorge Mello’s contributions, which are amazing in quality and also in size. I did not reach nearly half of the albums made available by him. Thanks once again, Jorge. This record was one of the first I prepared, but decided not to publish, since it was released earlier by Quimsy in his great Quimsy Mumbo Jumbo. However, I realized today with a back cover reading that Maestro Mário Castro Neves delivers arrangements and I could not resist on making at Loronix. Let’s see.
This is Sebastiao Tapajos – Sebastiao Tapajos e Sua Guitarra Cosmica (1968), for Forma, the third Sebastiao Tapajos career LP, produced by Joao Mello and arranged by Maestro Mario Castro Neves. The album opens with The Door’s Light my Fire, but soon turns back to the safe Brazilian music terrain with compositions by Sebastião Tapajos, Rildo Hora, Jorge Ben, Nonato Buzar, Antonio Carlos Jobim and others. Mario Castro Neves delivers creative and unique arrangements, actually, orchestrations, changing everything we are used to hear on standards like Wave and Zazueira. Tracks include: 01 - Light My Fire (Morrison / Manzarek / Densmore / Krieger) 02 - Rio das Ostras (Silveira) 03 - A Estrela e o Astronauta (Rildo Hora / Mário Castro Neves) 04 - Call Me (T. Hatch) 05 - Luar Em Veropeso (Tito Madi) 06 - Eu Quase Sozinho (Sebastião Tapajós) 07 - Cantiga de Errante (Rildo Hora / Heitor Quintella) 08 - A 200 P/h (Sebastião Tapajós) 09 - Zazueira (Jorge Ben) 10 - Wave (Tom Jobim) 11 - Sinhazinha (Nonato Buzar / Paulinho Tapajós) 12 -La Mentira (Álvaro Carrillo)
